When Microsoft released office 2007 they changed the office
file extensions (adding an “x” behind each extension). This means that
backwards compatibility with older office versions is lost.
NOTE: the files can be saved as a 2003 office files but it is not the default save setting.
Notice that in the Type column the files are described as 97-2003 files by office 2007/2010.
As mentioned above, office 2007 or newer has an “x” at the end of each extension. E.g. word changes from .doc to .docx.
NOTE: if you do not see the file extensions please refer to the show file extensions technote.
Candy uses the installed version of Office Excel when importing
Therefore if you have Excel 2003 installed you will not be able to import Excel 2007+ files because Excel 2003 is unable to read them.
In this case you will see the following message.
NOTE: This message can also appear if the file is damaged.
